A PR professional and former journalist with over 18 years of experience, Lejo (Lee) Johnny joined Leidar MENA in February 2020. In his role, Lee oversees the agency’s relationship with several Al-Futtaim, a large Dubai conglomerate, businesses in construction, engineering, commercial vehicles and aviation.
Prior to joining Leidar, Lee worked at Impact Porter Novelli (IPN) where he led the automotive accounts for Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Volvo, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM. He was also the agency’s lead on Dubai Festival City, one of Dubai’s premium business and entertainment destinations. In addition, he also looks after clients in diverse sectors including Aviation, Retail and Construction.
While at IPN, Lee was also involved in two Tennis Championships for Mubadala in Abu Dhabi managing the entire press office and liaising with the international and local press for interviews with players.
Prior to joining IPN, Lee was a PR Manager with GMASCO – Al-Futtaim’s in-house marketing and communications agency, where he led the PR and communications for leading automotive brands including Honda and Volvo. He was also instrumental in formulating the market entry strategies for Fisker and Lotus. His clients in the retail sector included Toys “R” Us, Plug-Ins, ACE and F&F.
As a journalist, Lee interviewed captains of industries and wrote extensively on commercial aviation, airports and aviation security. Lee wrote over 500 articles for the City Times, Khaleej Times, The Emirates Evening Post and The Bahrain Tribune. He also regularly contributed to the Middle East Aviation Journal, a trade magazine for aviation professionals in addition to bringing out show dailies at the Dubai Airshow in 2003 and 2005.
Lee enjoys a strong network of media connections across English, Arabic and Malayalam media including print, online, TV and radio. He has lived in the UAE for over 40 years and holds a Masters in International Business from the University of Wollongong, Australia.
